Except as otherwise provided below, Hu-Friedy instruments provide a guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship for the expected life of the product. Hu-Friedy will, at its option, repair or replace any product that fails as a result of any such defect. Hu-Friedy guarantees against breakage, joint failure, and corrosion under normal use.
“Expected life” means the life of the product under ordinary use which varies by type of instrument. Please call Hu-Friedy Customer Care at 00800 48 37 43 39 (Free Call) with questions about the expected life of any Hu-Friedy product.
Please note the following:
Instruments that shPXow wear from normal use are not considered to be defective and will not be covered by the guarantee.
Sharpening and repairing minor tip damage are considered routine maintenance and are not covered by guarantee.
Modifying or retipping an instrument or failure to provide proper instrument care, including proper cleaning and maintenance, may void this guarantee.
Warning: Do not expose resin or silicone handles to solutions containing phenols, gluteraldehydes, iodophors, dry heat or chemical vapor sterilization. See manufacturer’s recommendations for your cleaning system.
Limitations On All Warranties
Hu-Friedy disclaims liability and is not responsible for the performance or replacement of any product that has been misused, tampered with, modified, retipped or refitted in any manner or is beyond its expected life. Hu-Friedy disclaims liability, under any applicable guarantee or otherwise, for damages arising from (1) the use of commercial/residential grade washers; (2) the use of dental automated washer-disinfectors where manufacturer’s processing guidelines are not followed; (3) the use of cleaning solutions, chemicals and/or procedures that are contrary to Hu-Friedy’s recommendations; (4) improper set-up and/or installation of any product; and/or (5) failure to follow Hu-Friedy’s validated instrument reprocessing instructions.
The express warranties/guarantees described herein are the exclusive warranties/guarantees and are provided instead of any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or any other warranty, express or implied, except warranties of title and infringement. except as set forth herein, damages from breach of such warranties/guarantees are limited to the cost of repair or replacement of the product, at Hu-Friedy’s sole option. consequential or incidental damages resulting from breach of any applicable express or implied warranties/guarantees are hereby excluded.
This guarantee gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from country to country.
Full Satisfaction Guarantee - Ultrasonic Scaling & Air Polishing Products
If a dental professional is not satisfied, for any reason, with a Hu-Friedy ultrasonic scaling or air polishing product, simply return it within the first 30 days after purchase as a new item to Hu-Friedy with the invoice for a product exchange or full refund. this special full satisfaction guarantee is in addition to the product warranty against defects, described in the general product quality guarantee section above. WARNING: do not expose resin or silicone handled ultrasonic inserts to solutions containing phenols, glutaraldehydes, iodophors or to dry heat sterilization. use steam sterilization (autoclave) only for swivel, swivel direct flow, streamline, streamline direct flow and plus inserts. not compatible with automated washers. see instructions for use for appropriate power levels to use for ultrasonic inserts based on tip design.
Symmetry IQ® Piezo Scaler Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of 10 year following the date of the first purchase, any symmetry i piezo generator unit (“unit”) or, for a period of two years following the date of first purchase as a new item, any symmetry iq handpiece ("handpiece”) that fails as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Hu-Friedy will provide a loaner unit while the unit is being replaced or repaired. Purchaser must return the defective unit (postage prepaid) and must provide Hu-Friedy with the warranty registration card.
Excluded from this warranty are damages in cases of:
The unit or handpiece having been used outside of normal operating conditions.
The unit or handpiece being damaged in transit.
Non-compliance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions (water pressure, air pressure, mains voltage).
Use with an electrical system that does not comply with regulations in force.
Uses other than those specified in the user manual.
Non-compliance with instructions contained in the user manual.

SWERV3® Magnetostrictive Scalar Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of two years following the date of the first purchase, any swerv3 magnetostrictive scaler (“unit”) that fails as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Hu-Friedy will provide a loaner while the device is being replaced or repaired. Additionally, Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of one year following the date of the first purchase as a new item, any swerv3 handpiece ("Handpiece") that fails as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Purchaser must return the defective unit or handpiece (postage paid) and must provide Hu-Friedy with the warranty registration card or proof of purchase.
Excluded from this warranty are damages in cases of:
The unit or handpiece having been used outside of normal operating conditions.
The unit or handpiece being damaged in transit.
The unit or handpiece having been modified:
Non-compliance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions (water pressure, mains voltage).
Use with an electrical system that does not comply with regulations in force.
Uses other than those specified in the user manual.
Non-compliance with instructions contained in the user manual.

Sidekick® Sharpener – Limited Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of one year following the date of purchase, any sidekick sharpener that fails as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Purchaser must return the defective sidekick sharpener (postage prepaid) & must have previously provided Hu-Friedy with the sidekick warranty registration card.
Orthodontic Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of three years following the date of purchase, orthodontic cutter 678-113 and 678-700 that fails as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of seven years following the date of purchase, all other orthodontic cutters that fail as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship. In addition, Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace for a period of ten years following the date of purchase, any orthodontic utility pliers or wire bending pliers that fail as a result of a defect in materials or workmanship.
IMS® Cassettes Limited Warranty
Hu-Friedy, at its sole option, will repair or replace, for a period of ten years following the date of purchase, any ims cassette that is defective because of failure of materials (including corrosion) or workmanship of the cassette shell. Hu-Friedy, at its option, will also repair or replace, for a period of one year following the date of purchase, any ims cassette that is defective because of failure of materials or workmanship of the internal and moving components. Purchaser must return the defective cassette (postage prepaid) and must have previously provided Hu-Friedy with the warranty registration card. Hu-Friedy disclaims liability, under this warranty or otherwise, for damages arising from (1) user negligence, misuse, abuse or alterations to the cassette; (2) the use of commercial/residential grade washers; (3) dental automated washer – disinfectors where manufacturer’s processing guidelines are not followed; and/or (4) improper set-up and installation of the device.
