Open position and lubrication: these are the keys!
There are two virtuous actions that we suggest you implement in your daily practice when using hinged products.

1 - Process them in an open position
Make sure that you always reprocess hinged instruments in open position: this will prevent organic materials to dry and corrosion events to appear at the hinged level.
2- Remember to lubricate them
Hinged instruments need to be always lubricated with a lubricant suitable for steam sterilization, such as Hu-Friedy Instrument Lubricant Spray (ILS)

HINGED INSTRUMENTS, PLIERS, BONE RONGEUR FORCEPS, SCISSORS AND NEEDLE HOLDERS SHOULD ALWAYS BE WELL LUBRICATED.
If applied regularly, Hu-Friedy ILS Spray prevents abrasive corrosion and reduces friction levels when tools are used. Please always ensure hinged instruments are open before cleaning, disinfection or sterilisation.

With IMS Cassettes you can securely place instruments, such as scissors and needle holders in the lid of cassette. You can choose clips to secure hinged instruments (I1000) or ortho pliers (I3000).

The Petite Punch cuts a 4,5mm half-moon cutout in an aligner for relief of the plastic around bonded buttons used for elastics. Correcting rotations is often a challenge with aligners. The Vertical emphasizes overcorrection of rotations by producing an indentation at the mesial or distal line angles on the facial and/or lingual of a specific tooth. As an option, a rotational couple can also be created using vertical indents on facial and lingual surfaces on opposing sides of a tooth. The Vertical can also be used to produce an indent to produce a mild “nudge” to enhance resolution of in-and-out discrepancies.
