A host of new offerings from Hu-Friedy

Rotterdam, 16 January 2015 – Leading dental equipment manufacturer Hu-Friedy unveils numerous innovations at the IDS trade fair, particularly in terms of surgery. Visitors to Stand D40/E41 in Hall 10.1 also gain an impression of the comprehensive range, as well as having an opportunity to discover the quality and precision of the various products and get expert advice. With Atraumair, Hu-Friedy is bringing a range of dental forceps to market designed to facilitate access to crowns and roots and thereby greatly simplify extraction work. There are 13 instruments with different designs, ensuring a suitable option, available for every situation. A perforated design ensures the forceps are lighter, improving comfort for the clinician. The matt metal reduces light reflection, which improves visibility and thereby makes for easier inspection.

Also new to the range are the Labanca malleable retractors, which were developed in collaboration with Professor Mauro Labanca. These are used to protect the lips, tongue and mucosa by keeping them away from the surgery site. The pliable retractors are made from high-quality stainless steel and are available as a set in 10 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm sizes.

The Urban cheek retractor has benefited from the expertise of renowned implantologist Dr Istvan Urban. The hand-crafted instrument has a modified, concave working end which mirrors the curve of the jawline. It stabilises the mucosa during sinus lifts and tissue removal and prevents the preparation from slipping away.

The successful Black Line surgical range now also includes seven pairs of scissors with serrated edges to help prevent tissue sliding away. The black metal minimises the glare from powerful lighting, which is particularly beneficial when using a magnifying glass or microscope.

For precise identification of gingiva types, Hu-Friedy is offering Colorvue Biotype Probes with immediate effect: the instruments have plastic tips with different markings for fast and painless identification and classification of gingiva consistency. This in turn makes it possible to select a suitable individual treatment for the patient concerned.
