Course Description
We have brought together infection prevention and control compliance consultants for a town all style presentation that will answer the most common questions about COVID-19 as it relates to dental practices. Consultants will review new recommendations from the CDC for screen patients, PPE requirements, and managing product shortages, as well as protecting patients and dental teams from aerosol and droplet contamination. Additional topics that will be discussed include hand hygiene, disinfectant selection, importance of practice protocols, and how to know what the current recommendations, directives and regulations are and how they apply to dentistry. The webinar is presented on demand in a question and answer format.
Course Objectives - upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Identify the appropriate types of PPE required when performing emergency treatment for patients in place.
- Differentiate between emergency and elective care for dental patients
- Develop a practice plan for additional patient screening
- Demonstrate hand hygiene techniques as recommended by the CDC and the WHO
- Evaluate practice surface disinfectant efficacy against SARS-CoV2
Speakers
Linda Harvey, MS, RDH, HRM
Nationally recognized healthcare risk management and compliance expert, Linda Harvey assists dentists and teams navigate regulatory requirements. Linda’s real-world experience having worked with offices that have undergone various regulatory and dental board audits can help you navigate these changing times and build a strong foundation for the future. She is the founder and President of two compliance-related companies. In addition, Linda is recognized as a Distinguished Fellow in the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. She speaks and consults with dental practices virtually as well as onsite.
Olivia Wann. JD
Olivia joined the dental profession in 1985 having served as an office manager and dental assistant. She graduated magna cum laude from St. Joseph’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration and with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Nashville School of Law.
Olivia was one of the contributing authors for the ADA’s publication, Managing the Regulatory Environment: Best Practices. She has written articles for Dental Economics and other dental journals and was a featured speaker at the 2019 meetings of the Tennessee Dental Association, American Dental Association, and Hinman Dental Society.
Olivia and her team members provide onsite and online consulting, policy development, and training in the areas of OSHA, Infection Control, HIPAA, Chemical Dependency, Recordkeeping, and Human Resources.
Leslie Canham, DA, RDA
Leslie is a Speaker and Consultant specialising in Dental Infection Control and OSHA Compliance. Mary Govoni CDA, RDH, MBA
Mary Govoni brings over 40 years of experience in dentistry to the team. She is a Certified Dental Assistant, a Registered Dental Hygienist, and a certified OSHA outreach trainer, with experience in general and specialty practices both clinically and as an administrator.
Mary is a former dental assisting educator and was a partner in a successful dental staffing service. For the past 20 years, Mary has focused on speaking and consulting with dental teams on OSHA compliance, ergonomics, chairside efficiency and team communication and development.
